How Many Followers on TikTok to Get Paid? The 2026 Thresholds
TikTok pays creators directly from 10,000 followers and 100,000 views in 30 days, through the Creator Rewards Program. TikTok Shop affiliates can apply at 1,000 followers, and brand deals have no minimum. Each threshold is sourced, most from TikTok's own terms.

You need 10,000 followers to get paid by TikTok itself, through the Creator Rewards Program, and the follower count is the easier half. You also need 100,000 authentic video views in the 30 days before you apply, and once you are in, only videos of at least one minute earn (TikTok Creator Rewards Program Terms, US, last updated July 20, 2026). Other routes start lower: 1,000 followers to apply as a TikTok Shop affiliate in the US, and no TikTok minimum at all for brand deals you arrange yourself.
The rest of this page is each route with its real threshold, mostly read from TikTok's own terms and help pages in November 2026, plus two lines from the US terms that the top-ranking guides leave out: TikTok can cap how much any creator earns in a month or a year, and nothing is paid until your balance reaches $50.
Key Takeaways
- Creator Rewards Program: 18 or older, 10,000 authentic followers, 100,000 authentic video views in the last 30 days, a personal account (business accounts are excluded), and eligible videos of one minute or more. They are the same numbers TikTok set for its Creativity Program in 2023.
- TikTok Shop affiliate (US): 1,000 followers to apply, but under 5,000 you are in a pilot limited to 3 shoppable videos a day and 3 shoppable LIVEs a week.
- LIVE gifts: you must be 18 to host a LIVE and to collect Diamonds, the unit TikTok measures gifts in.
- TikTok publishes no per-view rate. The US terms let it cap each creator's rewards monthly or annually, and pay on the 15th of the month once you reach $50.
- Brand deals have no follower minimum, and the FTC wants the disclosure inside the video, not only in the caption.
How many followers do you need for each way TikTok pays?
"Getting paid on TikTok" covers five different programs, and most set their own bar. Here they are side by side, with the date each rule was published or checked:
| Route | Followers | Other conditions | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Creator Rewards Program | 10,000 | 18+, 100,000 views in the last 30 days, personal account, videos of 1 minute or more | TikTok US terms, July 20, 2026 |
| TikTok Shop affiliate (US) | 1,000 to apply, 5,000 to leave the pilot | 18+, at least 30 days in the pilot | TikTok Shop policy, September 25, 2026 |
| LIVE gifts | Shown in your app | 18+ to host and to collect Diamonds | TikTok, 2022 and January 22, 2026 |
| Subscription | 10,000 | 18+, 100,000 views in the past calendar month | TechCrunch, September 2024 |
| TikTok One brand campaigns | 1,000+ to join projects | 18+, TikTok One available in your country | TikTok Ads Help Center, July 2026 |
| Brand deals and affiliate links you find yourself | None | Disclose the deal (FTC) | FTC, 2019 |
| Creator Fund | Closed | Ended December 16, 2023 in the US, UK, France and Germany | TechCrunch, November 2023 |
If you read an older article that gives you a follower number for the Creator Fund, close it. TikTok shut the fund in the US, UK, France and Germany on December 16, 2023 and let creators switch to the Creativity Program (TechCrunch, 2023), which is now the Creator Rewards Program.
On LIVE, the one number TikTok has put in writing is the age. It raised the minimum age to host a LIVE from 16 to 18 on November 23, 2022, and said users must be 18 or older "to send virtual gifts or access monetization features" (TikTok Newsroom, October 17, 2022). At that time hosting also required 1,000 followers (CBS News, 2022). I could not find a current follower number for LIVE in TikTok's public terms, so trust what the LIVE button in your own app tells you.
What does the Creator Rewards Program actually require?
This is the program people mean when they ask how many followers you need, because it is TikTok paying you for views. The US terms list six conditions, and you need all of them (TikTok Creator Rewards Program Terms, US, last updated July 20, 2026):
- You are a legal resident of a country where the program runs, and 18 or older (or the age of majority where you live).
- Your account is active and "in good standing."
- You have "at least 10,000 authentic followers."
- You had "at least 100,000 authentic total video views in the last 30 days" before applying or being invited.
- You have a linked payment account registered in your own name.
- The account is a personal account, not a Business Account, an Organization Account, or the account of a government body, politician or political party.
Once you are in, the videos that can earn are "eligible User Content with a duration of at least 1 minute publicly posted on the Platform."
Three words in that list do more work than they look like.
"Authentic." It appears twice, before followers and before views. Bought followers and views from engagement swaps don't count toward the bar, and an account that isn't in good standing is out whatever its numbers say.
"Total." The 100,000 views are across all your videos, short ones included. The one-minute rule decides which videos earn after you join. It doesn't decide whether you qualify. A creator who reaches 100,000 views with 20-second clips can still get in, and then earns nothing until they post longer videos.
"Personal." Business accounts are excluded. If you switched to a Business account at some point, you need to be on a personal account to join.
None of these numbers are new. By May 2023, the US bar for TikTok's Creativity Program was already "at least 10K followers and 100K authentic video views in the last 30 days" and "original content longer than one minute" (TikTok Newsroom, 2023). What is new is the company on the other side of the contract: the US terms are now with TikTok USDS Joint Venture, which decides rewards at its "sole discretion," and the US Virtual Items Policy for coins and gifts names the same company (TikTok Virtual Items Policy, US, last updated January 22, 2026).
Is 100,000 views in 30 days harder than 10,000 followers?
For most accounts, yes, and it is the half people underestimate.
Followers accumulate. Views don't. The 30 days are a rolling window, so an account with 50,000 followers that posts twice a month can fail the bar that a 12,000 follower account posting daily clears.
Do the arithmetic before you apply. 100,000 views in 30 days is 3,334 views a day, every day. If you post once a day, each video needs about 3,334 views on average. Post three times a week, roughly 13 videos in 30 days, and each one needs about 7,700. One video that takes off can cover the whole month on its own, which is why an account can qualify the week after a hit and not before.
After you join, the bar moves from the account to each video. A creator walkthrough of the program describes a minimum of 1,000 qualified views from the For You feed per video before it earns, and says that views shorter than 5 seconds don't count (Create WP Site, October 2026). The public terms don't print those two numbers, so read them as the app's current rules, which TikTok can change without rewriting the terms.
If you want to know where you stand today, the views for the last 30 days are in TikTok Studio. Our TikTok analytics guide shows where each number lives and what each one tells you.
How much does TikTok actually pay once you're in?
TikTok doesn't publish a rate per 1,000 views, and the US terms explain why it never will. Rewards are based on "the popularity of their Eligible Videos, including based on total legitimate video views and other signals reflecting the popularity of, and engagement with, Eligible Videos," decided at the company's "sole discretion" (TikTok Creator Rewards Program Terms, US, July 20, 2026). Views are one input among several, and you don't see the others.
Then come the two lines most guides skip:
- There can be a ceiling. "TikTok reserves the right to impose a monthly or annual cap on each Creator's available rewards for Eligible Videos." A video that does ten times your usual views is not guaranteed to pay ten times as much.
- There is a floor. Estimated rewards show up in the program dashboard daily, in US dollars. They are calculated in the month after you earn them and paid on the 15th, but only if the payable amount reaches $50. When the money lands depends on your payment provider.
One more clause matters for anyone who uses popular audio: TikTok can mute, remove or disqualify eligible videos that use music without authorization. A video that loses its sound can lose its rewards with it.
The per-view figures that circulate online are estimates, not TikTok numbers, and nothing in the terms promises any of them. Treat Creator Rewards as a bonus on views you would be getting anyway, and never as the plan.
Can you get paid on TikTok with fewer than 10,000 followers?
Yes. Four routes open before the Creator Rewards Program does.
TikTok Shop, as an affiliate. In the US, TikTok Shop's Creator Eligibility Policy asks affiliate creators to be 18 or older and to "have a minimum of 1,000 followers" (TikTok Shop Academy, last updated September 25, 2026). The catch is further down the same policy. Below 5,000 followers you are "automatically enrolled in the Affiliate Creator Pilot Program for at least 30 days," which means:
- up to 3 shoppable product videos per day and 3 shoppable LIVEs per week;
- access only to products from sellers with a Shop Performance Score of 95% or higher;
- no eligibility to join campaigns.
You leave the pilot when you have at least 5,000 followers and have spent at least 30 days in it. So the honest answer for TikTok Shop is 1,000 to start and 5,000 to work without limits. Creators tied to a seller's own shop, which TikTok calls Official Shop Creators, have no follower minimum.
LIVE gifts. Viewers buy coins, send gifts, and the host collects Diamonds, which TikTok weighs, among other factors, when it decides what reward to pay. In the US you must be at least 18 "to buy, use or collect certain Virtual Items, including, but not limited to, Coins and Diamonds" (TikTok Virtual Items Policy, US, January 22, 2026).
TikTok One. This is TikTok's own marketplace where creators find paid brand campaigns. To sign up you must be at least 18 and TikTok One must have launched in your country. To take part in projects you need "at least 1,000+ followers and other requirements," which vary from project to project (TikTok Ads Help Center, July 2026).
Brand deals and affiliate links you find yourself. TikTok sets no minimum here, because TikTok isn't paying. The brand decides, and brands that know what they are doing look at how your audience responds more than at its size. Our benchmarks for a good TikTok engagement rate are the numbers a brand will compare you against. The rule that does apply comes from the FTC: disclose "any financial, employment, personal, or family relationship with a brand," put the disclosure "in the video and not just in the description," and in a live stream repeat it "periodically so viewers who only see part of the stream will get the disclosure" (FTC, Disclosures 101 for Social Media Influencers, 2019). A free product counts as a deal.
A last program sits higher than its reputation: Subscription, where fans pay you monthly. When TikTok opened it beyond LIVE creators in 2024, it asked for 18 or older, 10,000 followers and 100,000 video views in the past calendar month (TechCrunch, 2024). That is the same bar as Creator Rewards, so it doesn't help you get paid earlier.
What I would do
Under 1,000 followers, I wouldn't spend a minute thinking about TikTok payouts. Almost none of TikTok's own programs are open to you yet. If you want money now, it comes from a small brand deal you pitch yourself or something you sell, and both care more about a clear niche than about your follower count.
Between 1,000 and 10,000, apply to TikTok Shop if your niche sells physical products, and plan around 5,000 followers as the real line, because that is where the pilot limits end. If your niche doesn't fit TikTok Shop, keep pitching brands and look at TikTok One campaigns.
At 10,000, check your last 30 days of views before you apply, not your follower count. If you are short, the fix is posting more often, not waiting. And once you are in, make videos a minute long only when the content needs a minute. A padded minute loses viewers early, and the terms pay on engagement signals as well as on views.
At every stage, watch the two numbers TikTok checks, followers and 30-day views, as a trend rather than a daily mood. TikTok tracking in OwlStat is in early access and turned on per account on request: it follows an account's growth over time next to your Instagram and YouTube Shorts accounts, and lets you set a follower goal and get an email when the account hits it. If 10,000 is your goal, that is the email worth getting. Request access to TikTok tracking.

Frequently asked questions
How much does TikTok pay for 1 million views?
TikTok doesn't publish a rate. Its US terms say rewards depend on legitimate views of eligible videos plus engagement signals, decided at TikTok's discretion and subject to a possible monthly or annual cap. Only views on eligible videos of one minute or longer can earn in the Creator Rewards Program.
Does TikTok pay monthly?
Yes, for the Creator Rewards Program. Rewards are calculated in the month after they are earned and paid on the 15th, once your balance reaches the $50 minimum, according to TikTok's US program terms updated July 20, 2026.
How many views on TikTok to get paid?
To join the Creator Rewards Program you need 100,000 authentic video views in the 30 days before you apply, on top of 10,000 followers. That is about 3,300 views a day. After you join, only views on eligible videos of one minute or longer can earn.
Can you get paid on TikTok with 1,000 followers?
Yes, through TikTok Shop. In the US you can apply as an affiliate creator at 1,000 followers, but until you reach 5,000 followers and 30 days in the program you are in a pilot with posting limits. Brand deals and your own products have no TikTok follower minimum.
